The cover of the catalogue for the Bauhaus wallpapers presents itself as a mixture of photographic and typographic elements.

For a prospectus, Schmidt combined pictures of characteristic features of the city Dessau with various typefaces to create a kind of typophoto: An airplane of the Junkers company circles above an aerial picture of Dessau and carries the city’s name into the world.

Friedrich Reimann’s variation of the numeral 2 was his solution to one of 52 assignments that Joost Schmidt developed around 1930 for his class in the advertising department.

From 1925 Joost Schmidt instructed preliminary course students in typographic design. From 1929 he also taught nude and figure drawing for students in later semesters.
